The AAG has many resources designed to help students find information about undergraduate and graduate degree programs, as well as currently available graduate assistantships, internships, and postdoc positions in geography.
The 2015-2016 AAG Guide to Geography Programs in the Americas describes degree requirements, curricula, faculty qualifications, program specialties, financial assistance and degrees for colleges and universities that offer undergraduate and graduate programs in geography in the Americas. The Guide contains information on 266 institutions that offer bachelor's degrees in geography and 75 in which the master's is the highest degree offered; it lists a total of 105 academic institutions in the United States, Canada and Latin America known to offer a doctorate in geography. The Guide also includes information about government agencies, private firms and research institutions that employ geographers. As an enhancement to the Guide, the AAG has created an interactive map that students can use to explore and discover geography programs, with easy-to-use search tools to find programs by degree type, region, and program specialization.
The AAG Student Internship, Graduate Assistantship, and Postdoc Opportunities Website features a wide variety of available graduate assistantships, internships, and postdoctoral researcher positions in the discipline.
Students can search for available geography positions using the AAG Jobs in Geography Center. This site offers the latest geography-related job openings in the academic, public, private, and nonprofit sectors, along with a wide array of practical resources that can assist students with career planning and the job hunt.
